THE UMS is almost here, like as in tomorrow. In case you didn’t know, the price of the four day wristband goes up at midnight. Save yourself some money and buy yours ASAP here. While you’re at it, make a mental note or a written note to catch Panal at some point. The progressive instrumental band reaches peaks and valleys in their songs that can only be topped/rivaled by Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky. This week will see the band utilizing the talents from ex-A Shoreline Dream bassist, Enoc Torraca. Hopefully we see a permanent spot for the bassist in the band, but for the meantime, he’s doing the solo gig with an EP out titled, Always Surrender. The material is Enoc experimenting with his ambient side and the results are a success. The EP reminds me a lot of a time in my life when all I could listen to was Sasha’s “Airdrawndagger”. You can catch Panal + Enoc this weekend at the UMS.
