Red Rocks is winding down the 2019 concert season, but not before Rüfüs Du Sol and Bob Moses threw one haymaker of a show last night.
Even the crisp autumn air and cool temperatures were no match with the sizzle brought by both electronic acts. Rüfüs Du Sol and Bob Moses compliment each as well as any touring acts and definitively fed off of the synergy that electrified the throngs of festively dressed concert attendees.
Bob Moses elevated their game significantly since the last time we caught up with them at the Westword Music Showcase. Coincidentally enough, Bob Moses shared the stage with Australia’s other other electronic act, Cut Copy. In their magnetic set, Bob Moses delivered material off of their 2018 album, “Battle Lines,” but the resounding support came from the bits off of their landmark release, “Days Gone By.” Jimmy Vallance and Tom Howie found time to cover Prodigy’s “Firestarter” in an interesting choice that yielded surprising results.
The trio of Rüfüs Du Sol elevated their set by performing on three equally elevated planks set across the Red Rocks stage that felt a little disconnecting for fans, but the background LED graphics more than made up for the stage setup. We could’ve spent hours just gazing at the graphics lost in a trance of Rüfüs Du Sol’s music.
Last night marked the end in a long road for Rüfüs with their last US date in support of their 2018 stunner, “Solace.” More than a year since the release of their shining gem in the six-year catalog of one of Australia’s best exports, Team Rufus have put in the work and it shows. Last night displayed a trio so focused that their performance felt surgical in the way how methodical and precise they delivered a complete and utter display of mastery behind such an entertaining set.
