A rain delay that took well over an hour was not enough to keep veterans, Coheed and Cambria from mesmerizing the crowd at Sculpture Park Monday night. The band’s elaborate songs and technical performances within them lit up anyone within the crowd on Monday night. It also helped to have an incredibly bright and swirling light show to accompany the performance. There’s not much to say about Coheed at this point in their careers that hasn’t been said before. With some of their releases having been out for a decade plus it’s a no brainer that this group would have a diverse and longstanding following. This was evident in last night’s show where many of the fans were of many walks of life. Obviously, there were the twenty-thirty somethings that flooded the place with drunken energy. However, there was big amount of mom’s and dad’s bringing their kids to see a band that their parents loved and a fair amount of loner yet older metal heads just enjoying the show at a distance. No matter the differences between the people of the crowd it seemed that everyone was equally enthralled. Before the aforementioned delay The Story So far and Taking Back Sunday were integral in cultivating the atmosphere within the venue that night. With both bands lead singers making references to one of Denver’s most popular recreation activities and keeping continuous engagement with the crowd; they were the perfect personalities to settle everyone in. Another similarity between the two was that both of them were always fiddling with something on the stage. Adam Lazzara (Taking Back Sunday) made a habit of twirling his mic around and Parker Cannon (The Story So Far) just couldn’t seem to put down his tambourine. All in all, it was great night that was well executed by the venue staff and well performed by the three acts that took the stage that night. (Review/Photos by: Jalen Lomax)
