Rage Rocks 3 with the Floozies and Lettuce descended on the town of Morrison Friday night at Red Rocks for a raucous evening of funk. The weather couldn’t have been better, festies dressed in their funkiest outfits were coming in droves, and everything was coming together perfectly to set the stage for the 3rd annual Rage Rocks featuring Lettuce and the Floozies, with support by Jaw Gems and The Funk Hunters. It was going to be a very funky night indeed and if you didn’t leave Red Rocks with your legs a little wobbly from dancing so hard, well then you were doing something wrong.

I, unfortunately, missed the first two acts but from what I was told, Jaw Gems and The Funk Hunters were able to get the party started and get everyone up on their feet boogieing down.
The Floozies, as always, did not disappoint. Brothers Matt and Mark Hill took their usual places behind the guitar/vocals and drums respectively while adding three others behind a trumpet, trombone, and sax. This would be Floozies fourth time playing Red Rocks, but you would have thought it was their first with the way Matt kept looking up at the crowd with a giant grin slapped to his face and his eyes projecting an “is this real life?” look. His excitement and dancing were contagious and only added to the experience of an incredible show.
It was then time for the main event and the anticipation was high as the members of Lettuce made their way onto a dark stage. You could tell they were ready to party as the trumpeter, Eric Bloom made his way across the stage and posed for the crowd for a moment with his leg in the air, his trumpet in one hand and a bottle of wine and wine glass in the other. As all the members took their places, they kicked it into high gear and started playing their 5th Red Rocks show. “Let the funk flooooooooow!” shouted bassist Erick “Jesus” Coomes who was dressed in a groovy geometric robe, round purple sunglasses and a hat with the words “Human Being” on the crown. It was a funky almost two-hour set, everyone was gettin’ down and the jammin’ beats never stopped even for a moment, which made for an impressive 3rd Rage Rocks.
