2017’s Grammy Awards ceremony didn’t hide any political punches about “President Agent Orange.”A Tribe Called Quest took their moment on the big stage with Anderson Paak and Busta Rhymes into a fortuitous opportunity to bring a voice to all of the marginalized people under 45’s regime. The powerful medley paid tribute to Phife Dawg in a scene that played out as the most important Grammy performance in recent memory.
There’s only performer that is equipped to pay tribute to the late and great artist, Prince. Bruno Mars, not only in size does he meet Prince’s stature, but in energy. Adele stole the evening by winning almost at everything, but what the hell happened with Metallica and Lady Gaga. Lord, the enormous car crash felt like it would never end. Beyonce was primed to have an evening of victory, alas, she left it all on the stage and came away with only two awards. The Weeknd managed to bring two of our favorite Frenchies out of the witness protection program. The Dap Kings did Sharon Jones proud by collaborating with country royalty, Sturgill Simpson.
