Despite dropping an underwhelming album in “Junk,” Anthony Gonzalez redeemed himself in the best way possible. M83’s ability to take average recorded material to the next level live was captured in the regal setting of Red Rocks last night; thus taking all of the badness wrapped up in the form of “Junk” and making us forget his past transgressions in the process. The French act created an ethereal landscape of digital shades of beauty behind a new supporting cast in tow. Fans can hope that Gonzalez files his latest album as a result of growing pains as he makes the jump to the different stratosphere that brings his name to the top billing in summer festivals across the globe.
