Monday night at Globe Hall saw an evening of two artists on different ends of the musical spectrum with lounge ready vocalist, Molly Burch, and show stopper, Alex Cameron. Austin solo artist, Molly Burch scorched the venue floor with her brand of sultry AM 70s vocalistic stylings. Number after number, spectators looked to have fallen in love with Burch’s voice over and over again. Upon listening to “Downhearted,” I couldn’t help but feel placed in the middle of a David Lynch movie during one of those bizarro love scenes. The Texan artist is supporting her debut album “Please Be Mine” out via Captured Tracks.

Alex Cameron’s reputation on tongue in cheek performances is one of his more endearing qualities. As schmaltzy as some of his lyrics can be, there’s one hundred percent sincerity involved to the point of absolute endearment. Such was the case Monday night when Roy Molloy (business partner) took the stage with his trusted sax to perfectly compliment Cameron’s Elvis like hip gyrations as he comandeered the small stage into submission. Cameron and Associates took their self-deprecating stage antics to new levels with a three minute bit dedicated to the celebration of a particular bar stool. Despite all the shenanigans, Australia’s own proved to be a true showman. Cameron spared no expense bantering with crowd members and successfully seduced the Globe Hall crowd with music from his latest album, “Forced Witness.”
