Bomba Estéreo is killing it with their videos. If you missed their viral video of “Soy Yo,” with a miniature America Ferrara, don’t miss their latest clip of “Internacionales” taken off of their latest album, “Ayo.”
On the latest globe-trotting escapade, our favorite Colombian artists take us from Toronto to Morocco and Hong Kong with a middle-aged travel agent on a pair of roller skates. Bomba teamed up with director Torben Kjelstrup again (“Soy Yo”) and masterfully drives home the message of music transcending all barriers. No green cards or visits with homeland security are needed for enjoying a cumbia vibe on skates.
Bomba founder, Simon Mejia, on the new album:
Internacionales’ is a statement about how music is the biggest and most beautiful language that crosses all barriers. Independent of race and culture, we’re all the same when it comes to sharing the dance floor. Ayo’ was born in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, one of the most powerful places in the world. The album title is a tribute to that magical place. A spiritual ceremony opened the path to this album. It returns to the Caribbean sonic roots of Bomba Estéreo while at the same time, keeps looking at the world with open eyes and open ears, taking risks on new paths.
“Ayo” is out everywhere as of now and you can catch Bomba Estéreo on tour opening up for Arcade Fire on their massive arena tour starting later this month.
