It wasn’t that long ago that Glass Animals played Red Rocks. This time around, the eclectic lot returned with a little help from firestasrter, Amber Mark. C=T contributor, Josie Skinner (From the Hip Photography), took in last night’s show on Colfax with her photos and review:
Amber Mark’s sultry voice, backed with melodic bass and drums, warmed up the crowd last night at the Ogden. Amber Mark is reminiscent of SZA, but with a more down to earth vibe. Her voice alternates between a crisp pop sound and a late night jazz club. The combination of these two creates a unique sound that is sure to take over the scene.
Glass Animals followed with their gooey, liquefied sound. A stage set with a pineapple disco ball, flashing fake TV, and palm trees accentuated the playful and carefree sound of Glass Animals. The crowd was enraptured by lead singer Dave Bayley’s energy and dance moves, which ended with him moving into the crowd for the popular hit “Gooey”. Announcing that the Ogden may have been their “loudest crowd ever”, Glass Animals is sure to be back, right after they hit the studio.
