YourEDM via Billboard is reporting that a studio session with the Weeknd is happening (or has happened).
The move falls in line with previous collaborations that have worked succesfully that Daft Punk has done, most notably with Kanye West and Pharrell Williams.
The Julian Casablancas’ collabo turned in was one of the gems from “Random Access Memories” and definitely showed some muscles. The French duo aren’t afraid to deviate from business norms. If we had it our own way, these are the artists we’d like to see Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo collaborate with in the studio in no particular order:
- Big Boi – The ATL-ien is hitting his stride as a solo artist, especially after he’s been vibing with electronic twosome, Phantogram.
- Drake – Is there a collabo that Drizzy hasn’t liked?
- Caroline Polachek – Polachek’s vocals are groomed for electronic mastery.
- Dan Boeckner – The Wolf Parade vocalist is like a chameleon and can blend into any scenery without exerting too much or coming across as if he were trying too hard.
There’s no rhyme or reason to how the duo choose their muses, but after collaborating with a member of Animal Collective, anything is possible.
