We’ve grown accustomed to having great shows midweek in Denver. Live music fans understand their place in the grand scheme of things because geographically, Denver is in the middle of the West Coast and Chicago. Therefore, we get stuck with great shows on off nights. Last night at the Larimer Lounge was no mistake with the smallish club date for Mexico’s, 3BALLMTY. The trio are use to playing shows on a much larger scale, but by their balls out performance with a huge assist from the beautiful fill in for America Sierra, fans wouldn’t have known otherwise. The unexpected transitions during the set had the crowd dancing as if they themselves had those outlandish elfish boots. America’s replacement showered the room with her charming seductive vocals enraptured the room in a way that left many dazed and seeing stars. The wonderful juxtaposition of tribal guarachero beats with a sprawling video show topped with seizure inducing lights had the Larimer Lounge looking mighty fine with the extreme makeover. It’s important to note that Los Rakas held their own on stage and will be in Colorado in March for what appears as a residency in our fair state.
