TV on the Radio ::: Ogden Theater ::: 09.21.11

TV on the Radio made good with their word on making up their date that they were forced to reschedule due to the unfortunate passing of Gerard Smith. Broken Social Scene started the set with a bang churning out Cause=Time. Kevin Drew stated in an interview that the Canadians would be taking a very long break, for the band has been touring for over 18 months. Something tells me that it’ll be a VERY long time before we get another BSS album. The side projects will continue, according to P4K, however the future is murky. The chemistry with the entire crew is as tight as the last time I saw them. Drew couldn’t stop gushing about his love for Denver and was going to tell the world about our fair city. Brendan Canning high kicked through “Texico Bitches” and “Ibi Dreams of Pavement” played like a lasting farewell.

TV on the Radio hulked their way through the first part of their set offering a roaring take on “Young Liars.” Tunde’s vocal range remains impressive, whereas Kyp appeared to have gone on a crazy shopping spree at Rockmount. Kind of jealous, because I’ve always wanted a shirt from there, but dropping over $100 for one shirt isn’t something I can wrap my head around. Sitek’s stage presence is understated. “Keep Your Heart” allowed for Sitek to use the wind-chime on his guitar, and I’m thankful because it’s one of my favorite songs on the new album. Both Tunde and Sitek feed off of each other and plowed through a night celebrating one of the best albums of the year in “Nine Types of Light.” KTCL is playing TVOTR, which would explain the huge crowd, and good for them. They’re too good not to be heard by the masses.

  1. Does anyone have a full set list for BSS and TVOTR for the first show on 9/21?
