Religious experiences can occur outside of churches, mosques, or synagogues, and I think I may have had one on Thursday night. The DJ duo of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton with their supporting cast of Benetton-esque style female vocalists from around the world and eclectic backing band created a dubtastic atmosphere that ohh’d and ahh’d the Mardi-Gras meets Halloween crowd. The party like vibe felt that night lasted for a super extended set put on by the East Coasters due to no openers on the bill, which made for an extremely jubilant scene. The duo’s ability to mesh multiple languages, bossa nova, and jazz exceeded my expectations for the evening and had me thinking that I MUST have everything on their catalog. This should come as no surprise to me, because I have yet to find an artist on their ESL label that I dislike. Their concert experience could be compared to that of a energy cleanse or limpia espiritual.
