The Denver Post Music Showcase was a raging success. It was a taste of SXSW here in Denver off of Broadway. The amount of people that turned out was amazing! I am very pleased with everybody that participated and the kids at the Post , Ricardo and Wenzel, did a tremendous job hustling this till the very end. I was very excited to participate as a sponsor and as a fan. I was unable to get to the festivities till later, but the few acts that I caught, made me upset that I missed the first half of the day. Laylights did what was expected of them. They absolutely killed it. I saw my new favorite band, George and Caplin. Why haven’t we met before? I caught the tailend of their set. At this point, I really felt like I was at SXSW, having to sacrifice some sets to go to others. George and Caplin have a sound that is described as theme music to a modern Hitchcock movie. I call it brilliance. Joshua Novak was a name I had seen everywhere, but never listened to, and I was happy that I did. Great singer songwriter , that doesn’t sound too folky or granola like. I went and caught another singer songwriter, Gregory Alan Isakov was another name I had seen around town a lot, but never checked out. My wife is glad we did, she LOVES him. Lastly, PEE PEE, was PEE PEE. Those guys are CRAZY!!
