Macklemore & Lewis have ducked out of the game for a while after the colossal success of the Grammy award winning release of “the Heist.” Kendrick Lamar was kind of robbed of a Grammy on his debut album; even Macklemore conceded as much.

Congratulations on a new life, Macklemore. The Seattle rapper announced via a new song (because music) that he is a new daddy and husband according to People.

In an attempt to catch lightning in a bottle twice, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have attempted to follow the same formula to their touching track of love equality on “Same Love” with their newly released single, “Growing Up.” Talk singing, check. Important life event (daughter’s birth), check. Guest vocals on the hook contribution (Ed Sheeran), check.

“Growing Up” has all of the makings of the equivalent of a sure thing as a hit single. But, the song itself might be too sentimental for the casual Macklemore fan. Perhaps the material is treading the same “growing pains” of life that are echoed ad nauseam on “the Heist.”
