Alec Ounsworth by all accounts should be touring under a solo moniker much like many acts before that experienced an insurmountable amount of success in a short period of time that didn’t know how to make a second move. Continue reading

Cass McCombs releases new single “Run Girl Run” and tour with Denver date
Singer songwriters tend to take the avenue most traveled when crafting songs of love and despair. A few artists marginalize fans with jabs at the tumultuous social climate by taking sides on particular matters. More often than not, these solo guitar toting warriors wield a faster blow as keen observers of the socio-economic meltdown currently happening.
Cass McCombs is one of those warriors. The veteran artist is taking his songwriting in a different direction with his eight album, “Mangy Love.” McCombs is tired of sitting idle and taking sides on two of his preview tracks with “Run Sister Run” and “Opposite House” from the forthcoming ANTI released album (August 26).
Cass cites Occupy Wall Street protester Cecily McMillan and the tragic shooting in Ferguson, MO as influences for political and social commentary.
Look for the grizzled soloist to take the show on the road with fall tour that includes a Denver date September 23 at the Larimer Lounge. (image by Rachael Pony Cassells)
