Jay Bennett R.I.P.

Photobucket

It is with a heavy heart that I post this, but this source (and the rumour mill here as well) have confirmed the death of Jay Bennett. According to the report, it states that Bennett died in his sleep. The documentary, I’m Trying to Break Your Heart, did no justice for him and made him out to be a neurotic crazy unable to mend a working  relationship with Jeff Tweedy.  You can download his appropriately titled new album, Whatever Happened I Apologized, here.

The BPA (Brighton Port Authority)

I don’t think they’re referring to the north suburb of Denver , however, Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) is bringing together some of the most eclectic noisemakers and rabble-rousers he could assimilate and create a unique music project using David Byrne, Dizzee Rascal, Emmy The Great, Iggy Pop, Pete York, Jack Penate, Jamie T, Martha Wainwright, Conan, Olly Hite, Lateef, Ashley Beedle, Simon Thornton, Thomas Gandey, and Justin Robertson to create the BPA. A proper album comes out in the US on January 20th, 2009.

The New Monarchs

The New Monarchs
are a duo from Minnesota that will fill the void until Postal Service make a new album and the best part is that they’re a little harder in terms of their beats. Think of them as being on steroids and voila! Their new album , Blueprints, is set to be released Oct. 28th via Soup Bowl Records and they will take off on a short Midwest tour.
