the UMS 2010

The debaucherous four day music festival winded to a close last night, and from the sounds of it, many attendees’ livers probably couldn’t have handled much more UMS. I was able to catch less than a handful of artists at this year’s UMS, but one thing is certain. Next year’s UMS will be bigger and have more venues. Here are a couple of artists that a I caught and regret not being able to be around for the duration of the four days. How did you guys like the lucha libre and burlesque shows? Look over here for more coverage of the weekend’s events.

  1. […] The UMS 2010 experience exposed me to the wonderfully talented Kal Cahoone & the Dirty Pretty. The crazy thing is that I had already been exposed to Kal’s music via her time w/Tarantella, but I didn’t know it at the time. D’oh. Tarantella was a gypsy-tango inspired outfit that exuded the same energy the streets of Buenos Aires do on a nightly basis, but in North America. Obvs. The culmination of their live show, alongside Wenworth Kersey (they hardly do live shows) is blossoming into an amazing Saturday night. Wentworth Kersey has plenty to be excited about. Their third EP in a series of EP’s ” ((0))” is hot off the press and ready for you to purchase here (official release Aug 30th).  I always get sidetracked when listened to WK’s music. I can never decide if it’s cowboy-shoegaze, or if Spirtualized had a baby with Beck’s “Sea Change” album. […]
