Sound Team / Elefant @ Antones Austin, TX

Those lucky dawgs down in Austin had a huge treat, Sound Team and Elefant at Antones. I think that is one of the few venues that I have yet to frequent on my many excursions down to the Lone Star State. Richard from ultra8201.blogspot.com was there and my buddy Joel took tons of kewl photos….

Antone Tribute Scheduled for Tonight
A memorial show honoring Clifford Antone will be held tonight at his club, starting at 4pm. The free tribute includes performances by Double Trouble, Malford Milligan, Guy Forsythe and Cyril Neville.
News8 Austin considers Antone’s long-lasting influence on Austin’s music scene in a piece published earlier this morning:
“He brought blues clubs here in the ’70s when no one else was doing that. He brought leading musicians from around the country and sometimes from around the world to Austin, Texas, to contribute to our culture. So, he was an early pioneer when it came to Austin becoming a Live Music Capital of the World,” Austin business man and music lover Richard Halpin said.
“You never knew who was going to get on stage and you never knew who was going to show up to play and what it was about, it was not about celebrity, it was about music,” [Louis] Black [of the Austin Chronicle] said.
Black is also the director of South by Southwest.
“Literally, hundreds of cities tried it and it didn’t work anywhere else because there was no where else where you had so much talent as you did in Austin. And you had a community that knew each other and worked together. And Clifford was instrumental in that,” Black said.
