Mount Eerie @ Gob Gob 12-11-2006

Phil Elverum always plays these hole in the wall places when he comes into town. Last time he came, he played Warehouse 44 and it was in somebody’s living room. This time around, it was in an art gallery/home/multi purpose space, and I think it was somebody’s birthday. There was no booze sold, although, byob was strongly encouraged. He is the hardest working man in the biz. He played drums for both opening acts and all shared the same guitar. I have always liked Elverum under the Microphones moniker, but his short songs did the trick and everybody seemed thoroughly pleased. I thought he was going to be awkward and strage, but turns out, he’s hysterical and very personable. Lastly, he likes to sing about himself and his home. For those kids that missed the show last night, tonight you are in luck. The crew will be playing up in Boulder tonight.
