A Hot Congress Block Party
The First Continental Congress of the United States was a meeting of representatives from twelve of the thirteen Britsh Colonies in North America. On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. On April 18, 2009, a new hot congress will be delegated to the city of Denver, Colorado. Hot Congress consists of local musicians working together not only to bring their art closer to you, but also you closer to your local music scene. This innovative congressionally hot collective has been working in cahoots with local music venues such as the Hi-Dive, Moe’s, and the Larimer Lounge towards raising money for the release of the first Hot Congress Compilation CD. Our other main focus has been the creation of hotcongressdenver.com, an interactive community of artists displaying, networking, and inspiring each other through art and music. This site consists of user generated content, such as reviews, blogs, live performance videos as well as shorts created by local film makers, news/show postings, a gallery of still frame art from a variety of mediums, and a venue directory to help assist not only bands within the state of Colorado, but also help smaller bands from around the country as they book tours our way. The launch of hotcongressdenver.com will take place on April 18, 2009 at the Hot Congress Block Party at the Larimer Lounge and Meadowlark.
Breakfestes, Action Packed Thrill Ride, Vitamins, Achille Lauro, and Widowers will be performing at the Larimer Lounge. The Pseudo Dates, Fissure Mystic, The Jim Jims, and Lil Slugger at the Meadowlark. A simple eight dollars gives you access to both venues. All proceeds will go to the release of the Hot Congress Compilation CD this summer. The action begins at 8pm but it would be wise to show up early, on account of the fact that you never know what’s going to happen when the congress gets HOT.
