Gomez

I often attribute Gomez for acquainting me with good music when I graduated with high school. They’re celebrating ten years of Bring it On and I can legitimately say that this album changed my life. It was a chance visit to the record store that prompted me to buy Bring it On, Moon Safari, and Summerteeth. All of which went on to be legendary in their own right. The good news is that Gomez is coming out with a new album, and here are the deets:

Gomez-Don’t Make Me Laugh [mp3]

GLAD TIDINGS FROM GOMEZ’S HUMBLE DRUMMER MR. OLIVER PEACOCK

Happy Crimbo to one and all!

On behalf of the Schmez we’d like to wish you festive fun and laughter and may you have a good ol’ knees up for New Years!

If you haven’t heard by now, me and lads have been working hard throughout ’08 conjuring a new record so fine it leaves ‘Bring It On’ cowering in the corner. The record, entitled A NEW TIDE, was made along with producer Brian Deck — formerly of the band Red Red Meat and producer/engineer of recent killer albums The Shepard’s Dog by Iron & Wine and The Animal Years by Josh Ritter. The new album was recorded with fancy microphones and twiddly knobs in Charlottesville, Virginia and Chicago, fueled by bellies full of ale, whiskey and Hot Doug’s (exquisite hot dog’s but of course!).

The record will be out in the States on March 31, in the UK and Europe March 30, and in Australia on March 28. More details on the release after the New Year! And how’s about a track list:

A NEW TIDE
1. Mix
2. Little Pieces
3. If I Ask You Nicely
4. Lost Track
5. Win Park Slope
6. Bone Tired
7. Airstream Driver
8. Natural Reaction
9. Very Strange
10. Other Plans
11. Sunset Gates

For now we’d like to say thank you to everyone supporting us over the years, new and old fans from all over the globe and can’t wait for you to hear the new album. Keep on spreading the good word and let people know Gomez can take you to a new place, a higher place, somewhere so incredible known as…ROCKTOPIA.
