You could tell that Calexico was on their way into town. Tumbleweeds started rolling up and down Colfax and copious amounts of Tequila were being had at ever turn. Ok, so maybe their weren’t tumbleweeds or Tequila, but that’s what I think of when I think of Calexico. The guys stayed in town an extra day (they played the Triple A Radio Summit the previous night in Boulder) to do an in-store at Twist & Shout. The horn section contributed tremendously and at several moment throughout the performance, I felt like I was back in the mercado in Juarez throwing back a couple of Dos XX. The new album is shaping up to be one of their better offerings and the guys also said that they would be back in Denver in November when they tour their forthcoming album Carried to Dust (to be released Sept. 9th via Touch and Go) properly.
