Fiery Furnaces – Last night

I think I’m getting better at this. I entered the Theatre right as the Fiery Furnaces were walking on stage. Things felt a little different from the last time I saw them. They sounded louder and more cohesive. Matt (the brother) is more in control than ever. He was very commanding on guitar and was having his way with the crowd, whereas Eleanor (the sister) , was manning the other side of the stage ala’ Karen O’. She was very much in control and seems that she is getting more comfortable w/being on stage. She use to be a wreck. Instead of there just being one meddley that had all of their songs in one take, they decided to actually chop up the set in 5 or 6 different little songs.

  1. A great show last night, thanks for the photos. Did you happen to see if anyone was taping?

I hadn’t seen them for a couple of years and the catalog really offers so much to pick from. It was a small but pretty good (at least pretty) crowd.

We were having fun moving and smiling to the music, I would have loved it if more in the crowd would let go and shake it out. The music was definitely making us go.

  2. no, no tapers unfortunately…the crowd was a little contained, but a good small crowd….a band like that does better at larimer lounge, hi-dive, or climax…

  3. dude shannon dougherty was there… i think she got a breast reduction and belly implant though. teee he.
