Wild Pink’s John Ross starts “Eating the Egg Whole” musing the transition of the Washington Bullets to the Wizards and later about the retirement of Michael Jordan around the same time that we ate French Freedom Fries for a brief stint 2003.
The earnestness in Ross’s voice about how things don’t always last forever exists in this small fragile piece of our human psyche that manages to stay positive despite all the negativity that surrounds us constantly. It’s in this space that Friday night’s show captured a more than sold out Bluebird Theater that went on thirty minutes earlier than previously announced.
It wasn’t the moments when the deadpan vocals sounded as a Warren Zevon homage as it did as much as a love letter to all the beautiful things that conjure up a road trip over wide open spaces of the American Heartland.
