Dan Deacon’s endearing brand of avant-garde weirdness has been noticeably missing from the music scene.

The pride of Baltimore is back with his fifth studio album January 31 via Domino Records titled “Mystic Familiar.”

In the last several years away from the music game, Deacon deviated to scoring film and television for HBO and ESPN.

Listen to the first single from the new project with “Sat By A Tree.” The video is hideously tranquil and not for the faint of heart or squeamish at the sight of creepy crawlers.

Mystic Familiar Tracklist:
1. Become a Mountain
2. Hypnagogic
3. Sat By A Tree
4. Arp I: Wide Eyed
5. Arp II: Float Away
6. Arp III: Far From Shore
7. Arp IV: Any Moment
8. Weeping Birch
9. Fell Into the Ocean
10. My Friend
11. Bumble Bee Crown King
