Kinky and Izcalli brought the Mexican rock sounds to the Levitt Pavilion Friday night in what ended up being a complete shock to the electric grid.
There was word that the show was going to be canceled altogether, however, the power came back to the venue and all was right.
Kinky the band made a comeback to Denver on their US tour on Friday at the Levitt Pavilion. The “rockeros” are part of “ La Avanzada Regía “ in 1998 part of bands that came out out of Monterrey Mexico. The list of acts that also birthed: Jumbo ,Zurdok, Control Machete and Plastilina Mosh to name a few.
Well known Denver Spanish rock act, Izcalli, heated up the crowd with their energetic show. Miguel Avina and the crew played music from their album “Casa de Papel.” Later in the set, the locals teamed up with singer Andy González from Denver ska act, Roka Hueka, on a duet.
As the venue waited the night was ready for the band to hit the stage,the intro play electronic music and the band came to stage, Gil Cerezo the singer came after couple minutes and the crowd exploded with “Desaparecer” from 2017 album “Nada vale más que tu” followed up by protest jam, “Presidente,” against ex-Mexican President, Enrique Pena Nieto.
The night brought hit after hit with a playlist that never let up on the gas pedal from “ Hasta Quemarnos,” “Después del After,” ” Más ,” and “A Donde Van Los Muertos” (a hymnal to the dead).
