Tuesday night at the Summit Music Hall in downtown Denver, a stacked lineup consisting of Wet, Kilo Kish and Helena Deland conquered an otherwise sleepy weeknight.

Tuesday marked the first night of the tour for the demure Canadian, Helena Deland. Fresh off of her stint in Austin for SXSW, Helena took to the stage without her band in a short, but intimate and introspective contribution in a concert goer’s equivalent of three cherries on a slot machine. Deland is celebrating her most recent release(s) with support behind “Vol. III & IV.”

Kilo Kish is the sound of the future. The Floridian artist was dealt a disservice with the dwarfish stage she delivered one of the most energetic sets I’ve seen involving two people on stage. Imagine trying to hit max speed in a sports car on an elementary school parking lot.

Despite the adversity, Kilo Kish came on top and slew the attentive crowd with her lock tight dancing skills and mysterious presence leaving many of us in suspense. KK’s vocal style at times captured the magic of an early Sugar Cubes tune where Bjork was still finding her footing. Lakisha Kimberly Robinson is receiving her fair share of attention behind her latest effort, “mothe.”

By the time Wet surfaced on stage, fans were ready to settle down and enjoy the sensual voice of Kelly Zutrau. The big label act strategically worked the venue in their favor after a dynamite performance by Kilo Kish by creating a dinner by candlelight and wine vibe.

Wet most recently collaborated with Toro y Moi on his latest album this February with the stellar track, “Monte Carlo.”
