In support of their 2019 release Blushing, Copeland made a stop through Denver and swept a Bluebird Theatre crowd off their feet.

Before even stepping foot on stage many of the attendees were already buzzing about previous performances they had witnessed by the band. I overheard many conversations and had been directly told on an exceptional amount of occasions by those attending just how therapeutic Copeland’s studio albums and live shows have been for them throughout the years. That kind of admiration really showed as they swooned over every melody lead singer Alex Marsh crooned during his set.

While displays of these emotions from the crowd were a bit more on the humble side. The crowd couldn’t help but sing along to a track like “Have I always Loved You” and even get their feet moving a bit to the groovy outro of “Disjointed” that followed right after. You could see the appreciation from some of the older fans when tracks from deep in their discography were played like “Brightest” and “Should You Return”. All in all, though, there was an eager yet attentive energy throughout their sets run time without a single dull moment.

Copeland may have wrapped the night up nice and sweet. But it was the relatively newer acts that helped catapult the night into what it was. Briana Hunt and Joey Vanucchi were otherwise known as Many Rooms and From Indian Lakes showcased emotionally compelling music with the help of their backing bands. Many Rooms had a set that was so emotionally bare that I felt like an intruder in the room as it felt like the clicking of my shutter echoed at points in her performance. On the other hand, From Indian Lakes took a more rhythmic approach in serenading the crowd with melodic tunes. It’s clear these two artists may take influence from Copeland amongst many others and it led to a wholesome night that I am sure everyone in the venue benefitted from. – Photos/review – Jalen Lomax
