Somebody must have told Black Mountain that the spirit of stoner psych rock is on life support.

The Jagjaguwar act melts faces with their latest piece of bone crushing rock with “Future Shade” taken from their forthcoming album “Destroyer” slated for release May 24.

Vancouver’s crew of hard chargers took a three year breather since the 2016 album release of “IV.” In that time, Black Mountain head dream killer Stephen Mcbean recruited new blood with the additions of Rachel Fannan (Sleepy Sun), Adam Bulgasem (Dommengang & Soft Kill), Kliph Scurlock (Flaming Lips), Kid Millions (Oneida) and John Congleton (St. Vincent, Swans).

Sufficed to say, things got a little live on the new album recording that revolves and titled after the defunct Dodge muscle car capable of outgunning any car in sight. Catch the Canadian act on the road for a small tour later this month.

1. Future Shade
2. Horns Arising
