UK outfit, Jungle, visited a sold-out Boulder Theater this past Sunday for one of the best shows I’ve seen this year. XL Recording’s star act upped the ante with the release of the sophomore album, “For Ever.”
Jungle toured their debut self-titled release for two years and packed up shop and moved to SoCal from the UK. The change in scenery is immediately felt from beginning to end of the dynamic offering.
True to the first two songs of the new album, the septet started their set Sunday night with an emphatic take of “Smile” that set the tone for the evening which segwayed into a vibey take of radio mainstay, “Heavy, California.”
Vocalists Josh “J” Lloyd-Watson and Tom “T” McFarland captured many hearts Sunday night, mine included. The falsetto volley of the two frontmen enraptured fans in a temporary pleasure palace of neo-soul for the evening. Even on the more down-tempo takes like “Cherry,” “J” and “T” took everyone in the Boulder Theater to church.
Do yourselves a favor and catch Jungle at the one of many dates below or at the very least, give the new album a spin.
