Beirut is back after a four-year break with news of a new album and new music.>!–more–> Zach Condon broke his silence with the new album news of “Gallipoloi” with a February 2019 release via 4AD Records.
In perhaps even better news, fans of Beirut’s earlier works are in store for a treat. It’s reported that Zach went back to his old Farfisa organ that was used on his first two releases.
The New Mexican checks in with a little backstory on the new project:
“We stumbled into the medieval-fortressed island town of Gallipoli one night and followed a brass band procession fronted by priests carrying a statue of the town’s saint through the winding narrow streets behind what seemed like the entire town. The next day I wrote the song entirely in one sitting, pausing only to eat.”
Look for Beirut to hit the road in February 2019 to support the new album, “Gallipoli.”
