Phish ::: Dick’s Sporting Goods Park ::: 09.01.18

Phish is nearing a decade of their Labor Day run dubbed as “Phish Dick’s” here in Commerce City, CO. Burlington’s ubiquitous foursome of jam delivered the noodly extended riffs before a capacity crowd at the home of the Colorado Rapids for Saturday night’s date.

Of the times that I’ve witnessed Trey and Company, this time was an all business affair that displayed a blue-collar aesthetic to their show that literally and metaphorically had them roll up their sleeves for the two set gig.

Not many shocking moments in day two’s set, save for the gritty opener of “Sand” that transitioned feverishly to “Down with Disease.” This night was the first time that I was exposed to new material from “Fuego.” My level of apprehension teetered on the nervous side due to my unfamiliarity, but “Feugo” ended up being my favorite part of the evening.

Colorado fans are in luck because they’ll catch Trey twice more before the end of the year with a two-night stay at CU’s Mackey Auditorium for two solo shows. The bad news is that both nights are sold out.
