Foxing.Ratboys.Kississippi. 9.25.18. Globe Hall

In support of their newest album “Nearer My God,” Foxing has embarked on a U.S headlining tour that has spanned a little over a month. Coming upon the last stretch of shows that included an excursion to Ontario and Quebec. The guys in Foxing, with the help of an equally talented supporting cast, came into Globe Hall and swept everyone away. Kississippi, whom resides in Philly for a good part of the year, started the night with a collection of indie-pop tunes. Singer/Songwriter Zoe Reynolds comfortably and confidently led a backing band with her incredibly soft yet mutable voice. They’ve just released an album this past April and much like their live show, it is definitely something more than worth looking into. What followed next was an up close and personal set from the duo Ratboys which also featured a few extra additions in touring members. Made up of Julia Steiner (Vocals & Guitar) and David Sagan (Guitar), the group shared not only a pretty well-rounded trip through their discography but a fair amount of laughter and storytelling as well. Before playing the aptly titled Elvis is in the Freezer from their 2017 release “GN.” Julia was keen on filling everyone in on the cat whom this song takes inspiration from. As well as bringing us back to the days of being a kid and having that sweet crush (or not so sweet crush) in school before another very well titled song called After School. To cap the night, Foxing took the stage with an incredible light show and a strong showcasing of songs from their new release. Starting the night with the versatile yet emotive Grand paradise. Then quickly getting into the sappy yet catchy title track from Nearer My God that seemed to put an already eager crowd onto another level. While their newest release was the primary focus they also didn’t forget where they came from. Throwing it back to the groovy track, “The Medic,” from their debut “The Albatross.” Which beforehand featured lead singer Conor Murphy providing the crowd with a humbled speech about the times they ’ve come through to Denver and admitting that this is a song they ’ve not played live in their careers. Foxing ended their night incorporating a few more songs from both “Nearer My God” and their 2015 release, “The Dealer.” Before completely bringing the place down with the devastatingly powerful “Rory,” leaving everyone in the room that night completely satisfied.
