The swirling media frenzy that preceded Thursday night’s Ryan Adams and First Aid Kit show at Red Rocks was something that I’ve only seen one other time when Jack White performed at a mechanic shop on West Colfax. Openers First Aid Kit delivered a memorable treat for fans that arrived ahead of the main attraction. Sisters Söderberg take their shared DNA to a different level of chemistry that is strikingly evident onstage. The Columbia Records’ artists are currently supporting their latest offering, ‘Live from the Rebel Hearts Club,’ 6 track EP that breathes new life into material from their album, “Ruins.”

Ryan Adams the troubadour showed up and is quite the showman. However, not much selling was needed. Alt-Country’s once shining star displayed his dexterity with extended noodling very much in the heart as Jerry Garcia. The complex solo artist didn’t stop there, but he unleashed on his multiple genres starting with his hippy phase. “Magnolia Mountain” careened over a whopping ten minutes in an obvious nod to the jam gods permanently perched at the altar of Red Rocks. In a not wasted opportunity, Adams brought First Aid Kit to the stage for not one, but two poignant numbers “Oh My Sweet Carolina” and “Come Pick Me Up” respectively. Suffice to say, things got a little emotional shortly thereafter.
For First Aid Kit, catch the girls on tour starting this September in support of “Ruins.” NME is reporting that Ryan Adams has a slew of material waiting to be unleashed for his rabid fans that include a sequel to “Prisoner” and the LP, “Blackhole.”
