Brazilian Girls made their Denver debut (based on information from Setlist) at the Bluebird Theater. It only took fifteen years for the quartet to perform here, but well worth the wait.

What immediately enraptures fans is the polished musicianship from the skilled artists Jesse Murphy, Didi Gutman and Aaron Johnston. The three combine as more than a formidable backing band and more of a powerhouse lounge centric trio that plays as skilled jazz assassins for hire that so happen to play pop fusion. It’s quite impressive the range that the three posses. When you couple the talented vocal component with lead singer Sabina Sciubba, the results are captivating. All members work toward a blend of sophisticated chic lounge music to new wave.
The foursome has come a long way since their days of jamming at Club Nublu. Time has served the New York-based act well, allowing for the quartet to not only refine their sound but sharpen a more exploratory avenue on their latest album, “Let’s Make Love.”
Despite only playing a few select dates across the US, there appears to be no rust with the group performing at a high level of execution.
Even Sciubba’s baroque sensibilities knew when to give way to her crew during several riffs throughout the night that are not seen very often by center stage hungry lead performers.
And yes, Brazilian Girls did perform their obligatory “Pussy” song for those wondering.
