Nashville based solo artist, Anderson East, brought the nu-soul sound from down south to the Centennial State for a slew of live dates this past weekend. Michael Cameron Anderson is ready for his closeup. East is damn ready to blow up. The curly haired maestro of soul vocals soared successfully before a crowded house at the Gothic Theatre Friday night. It’s important to note that Anderson’s backing band sounded every bit as polished as they do on the latest album released in January of this year, “Encore,” out via Low Country Sound.
What’s more impressive is the stage awareness that the southern crooner commands. At times, East’s ability to mesmerize the wall to wall crowd bordered near expert status which was displayed on top 40 ready single, “All on My Mind.” Friday night’s show was originally scheduled to be at the Bluebird Theatre, but due to overwhelming demand moved to the more spacious Gothic. Fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see what the velvety vocalist would like on the big stage of Red Rocks, because on June 20, East is scheduled to open up for Kaleo. You’re welcome.
