Nathaniel Rateliff honors Chuck Berry on “the Tonight Show”

Chuck Berry is rock and roll. The contribution to music by Chuck Berry is immeasurable. When it came time to have a duet type album, who better than to call than fellow Missouri native and Colorado resident, Nathaniel Rateliff. “Chuck” is the first new album in almost forty years from the musical icon that includes contributions from Gary Clark Jr., Tom Morello, Nathaniel Rateliff and Chuck’s grandson Charles Berry III.

Watch Rateliff without his token Stetson hat tear up the stage with Charles Berry Jr, Charles Berry III and the Roots on the first single, “Big Boys,” on “the Tonight Show” stage. The visit with Fallon marks a third visit with Rateliff in less than five years.

The Nightsweats are working on a follow up to their debut smash album, but in the meantime, the guys are doing a little bit of touring. A second night at Red Rocks has been added with support from the “Screaming Eagle of Soul,” Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires. This marks the second time the two have shared the same stage in the last couple of years. Rateliff and Bradley both played at last year’s Pabst Festival on Larimer last year.
