The impalpable plume of ganj smoke permeated the Bluebird Theatre air more so than other shows that I’ve ever attended.The immensely versatile musician known as Thundercat flexed an insurmountable amount of range on his worn baritone guitar. The backing band consisting of a drummer and keyboardist completed the evening with an acid jazz vibe that expertly riffed in the improvisational territory.

The West Coast maverick is set to drop his opus, “Drunk,” to the world this week. The new album includes collaborations with Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Kendrick Lamar and Flying Lotus to name a few.
