The ongoing witch hunt of shutting down DIY spaces across the US in the wake of the tragedy in Oakland made its way to Denver last night. The warehouse responsible for the resurgence in the “arts district” in the River North district of Denver known as Rhinoceropolis was closed yesterday by the Denver Fire Department for not meeting code. This is not a coincidence. Instead of kicking out artists out of the shared workspaces and arts venues, why not find or have solutions for affordable housing in the Denver area? Not enough is being done to find solutions. All that can be found from our politicians are mpty promises and canoodling with land developers.
