This year’s campaign election is at a fever pitch. Something I think we can all agree on is that election day couldn’t come soon enough. However, in the meantime, there’s several key issues that need resolution. One that is near and dear to my heart is immigration. I’m a first generation American. My dad was born in Mexico and didn’t become a US citizen until the last several years. One thing that irks a large contingency of Latinos is how we’re used as props every four years. Despite strong talk about immigration reform and a “wall” being erected on the border, there’s never any resolution or progress. Music streaming conglomerate Spotify looks to bring attention to this important topic with a popup event in Denver.

Clarify is what happens when Spotify and Mic join forces to bring social awareness to one of the items that makes America so great. More than just a “get out the vote” event, Clarify is hosting 8 events in 8 cities leading up to the presidential election.

Denver’s event takes place October 11 with an art installation consisting of textiles representing the fabric of our diverse nation. There will also be discussion featuring Mairead Case, Christian Barreto Salgado and Pearl Marie Salas about art, music and immigration.

What would a Spotify event be without music? Look for a playlist with selections taken from Columbia, Spain, Mexico, England, France, Morocco, Sweden, Japan, and Puerto Rico. Fancy Matthew from Fancy Tiger will be holding it down behind the decks. Best of all is that it’s a free event.
