The Chainsmokers are inescapable. They’re everywhere, and last week, the duo held it down at Red Rocks. C=T staffer, Ally Miller, took in the madness last week.

Turn on any Top 40 radio station and it’s almost impossible to go an hour without hearing one of The Chainsmokers’ upbeat “get-on-your-feet” hits. With sweeping chord progressions that pull you into a euphoric dance vibe, it’s no wonder the DJ duo have risen straight to the top of the charts.

Fresh off their debut performance at the 2016 VMA Awards, The Chainsmokers took their show to Red Rocks – dubbed “Dreaming Red Rocks” – to perform for a crowd of almost 10,000 fans. Selling out months in advance and resale tickets going for what would normally equate to festival prices at $300+ a pop, the anticipation was high for the DJ duo’s first headlining show in Colorado and they did not disappoint!

After an epic piano riff introduction and a “Red Rocks, make some f******’ noise!”, Drew Taggert and Alex Pall appeared through the lights at the top of their new stage set up in front of their screaming fans and immediately kicked things off with a few lines from “Roses” and “Don’t Let Me Down,” morphing into a trap remix of “Where You Been?” by 2 Chainz and the energy only intensified from there.

Taggert kept the crowd going all night by jumping around their three-tiered stage through intense fog blasters, glittering lasers, and bursts of flames throughout Pell’s remixes of their top hits and even remixes of songs from Coldplay, Taking Back Sunday and Twenty One Pilots.

One song was surprisingly left out of the almost two-hour long set – the song that catapulted Chainsmokers into the spotlight back in 2014, “#SELFIE.” But they more than made up for that with the debut of their new track as promised by the duo on their Twitter account the previous day. With catchy, upbeat sounds similar to “Closer” and “Don’t Let Me Down,” the new song featuring Bebe Rexha (speculation…but pretty dang sure) will be sure to climb to the top of the charts in no time. Now we just have to wait for it. (word/photos Ally Miller)
