Dada Life and Jauz ::: Red Rocks ::: 05.21.16

Concert 5.21.16 034

The EDM music is synonymous with bluegrass and jam band scene at Red Rocks in terms of rabid followings. Swedish duo Dada Life tore up Morrison with support from electronic producer, Jauz. C=T contributor Grace Schroeder lit up the night with some of the best beat flexers in the game.

Saturday night in Morrison with the elite of EDM can only mean that a stacked lineup awaits Red Rocks fans basking in the glorious summertime vibes. Opener, Aryay, did a formidable job of hyping up the crowd and keeping the set warm. The stage he plays on includes a large screen that projects a safari theme, as well as various animals such as colorful lions, snakes, and tigers. As Aryay sizzled up the crowd, all that was noticeable was people dressed in banana costumes for the main headliner Dada Life. The hour is soon over and Aryay is wrapping up his set for iBluestone. The crowd is up and on their feet dancing, till they can’t stand.

After, an hour of iBluestone playing mellow downtempo jams, Colorado favorite Paper Diamond, corralled the crowd with his brand of hypnotic beats. Upon the first track, the crowd’s collective adrenaline is immediately stacked; the first drop hits, and the entire amphitheater is filled with energy and excitement! Paper Diamond was able to keep the high level of intensity for an hour.

Jauz is primed to flex on stage with a high bar of excellence set forth. Now, that Jauz went up everyone screamed bloody mercy as if it was the end of the world. But let’s face it, when it comes EDM every act is the end-of-the-world. In all reality, Jauz did a number on the crowd. He really proved how talented of an artist he is. Not only is he talented, but his stage was very creative with the shark theme, hence his name.

Dada Life came to bat as a cleanup hitter with bases loaded. The duo’s stage theme consisted of prehistoric times when dinosaurs roamed and T-Rex reigned king. Since the crowd remained lively from the previous artists, the stage had the glow stick toting fans in a frenzy that felt like each passing second consisted of a behemoth drop. Things appeared even more alive than ever. Once the stage came together, fans went nuts screaming as loud as they could: “DADA LIFE.” The contagious energy from the crowd never let up from the first drop to the last blazing light! -Grace Schroeder
