For those worried about grimy ’70s rock, the spirit of Tom Verlaine is alive and well with Atlanta act Omni. The raw energy exuded by the southerners (members of Deerhoof and Carnivore) is one that is unpolished and as minimalistic as possible. In the “Afterlife” video, the trio appear to pay homage to the PBS show, “Contact,” with the different colored shapes flashed in each passing frame. Angular to the core!
