Last night, The Word Alive came through Denver for their Dark Matter tour and played at Summit Music Hall. They started out the show with a song from the upcoming album but even so, the energy in the room was high. Then by the time they finished playing “Hounds of Anubis”, one of their older songs, the whole room was pumped.
Throughout the set they played many new songs from Dark Matter, which frontman Telle Smith assured everyone would be able to get into without having heard it before. He was indeed right; everyone was in enjoyment. The Word Alive always does a great job at connecting with the crowd, making every show feels quite personal.
They closed the show with “Life Cycles” from their 2012 album Life Cycles, and everyone’s voice rang throughout the room as they sang along with Telle, “I’d rather die for what I believe, than live a life without meaning.” The Word Alive is definitely a band worth checking out and with their promising new album Dark Matter set to release March 18th, what better time than now?
