Safe In Sound landed in Broomfield Saturday night with Nero leading the charge. C=T first time contributor, Grace Schroeder, took the night to task with some of the heavy hitters in the electronic game.

Safe In Sound Festival 2015

The last time NERO was in town, was on July 31, 2014 for Hard at Red Rocks Amphitheater. This is one show I have been anticipating to check-out since the tour was announced. On Saturday night, the doors opened at 6 pm for the start of the Safe and Sound Festival. There were very few people on the floor and sitting at the GA bowl sections. DJ Fury, a popular DJ in the Mile High, was the opening performer mixing Drum and Bass, Jungle, and a few Breakbeats. The crowd slowly started arriving form standing outside in the cold and rain. By the time DJ Fury was done with his set, I was looking forward to more dancing, and wanted to put the camera away.

Colorful lights and the extreme bass from the 150,000 watts sound system, were amazing throughout the show. The fans were dancing on the floor and enjoying some of the next artists, which a mixture of dubstep and trap. Promptly after DJ Fury, was Basscrooks. The duo entertain with vivid light shows and extreme bass. Next in line was Terravita, Dirtyphonics, Bro Safari, and Zomboy. Joshua Mellody, also known as Zomboy, is another artist from the United Kingdom. He entertained the crowd with his list of songs which included WTF, Resurrected, Game Time, Bad Man remix, Levels remix, and Jack U Take U There remix. The venue of a capacity of 6,500 was starting to fill up, and Zomboy had everyone moving.

Zomboy ended his set by midnight. The crowd had a break to refill water bottles, take a smoke break, and regroup with friends for about 20 minutes. NERO was preparing the stage with musical instruments, additional lights, and microphones. Everyone was excited and on their feet, ready to hear the headliners from London, UK. The lights went off, the fog machines were in full force and walking in was Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray. The electronic duo started with the show with Doomsday. Shortly after 12:30 pm, the beautifully-goth dressed Alana Watson walked on stage singing to Promises. The fans were all cheering, screaming, and in awe. The electronic trio played Innocence and Must Be the Feeling, while fans sang along with Alana. Another track played was from the new album “Between II Worlds- Satisfied.”

Overall, it was an eventful evening of all-ages dancing the night away. Although the weather was cold and rainy on the outside smoking areas, everyone still enjoyed the amazing night with several artists playing a variety of genres from Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Electro House, and Electronic Rock. – Word and photos by Grace Schroeder
