When people use to think of Denver music to hit the big time, most would point towards 70s act, Sugarloaf. As of late, the scene has been on a bit of a winning streak, dating back to when the Fray was showing us “How to Save a Life” in 2005. But, before the Fray won fans through the long extending promotional arms of KTCL, was the Elephant 6 Recording Company. Neutral Milk Hotel and the Apples in Stereo made their start in Denver; which subsequently yielded recording projects for of Montreal, Beulah and Dressy Bessy.

As the elder statesmen in the Denver independent music scene, Dressy Bessy has been quiet for what seems like an eternity, seven years to be precise since the release of their last album “Holler and Stomp.” Fast forward to 2015 and the quartet is full of good news. Lead vocalist Tammy Ealom and the guys have signed with influential indie record label, Yep Records. Early 2016 will see the release of a new album by Dressy Bessy. The quirky act made the jaunt out to North Carolina to record a “Sawyers Sessions” that captured two new tracks scheduled to be on the new release. Despite the long absence, Dressy Bessy appears to not have missed a beat in the casual setting of downtown Hillsborough.
