It only took fifteen years, but Blur returned to the big stage on US late night with Jimmy Fallon to perform “Ong Ong” from their latest album, “the Magic Whip.” Blur served up a huge helping of Britpop on “the Tonight Show” last week with Damon Albarn fully equipped with his acoustic guitar and unmistakable voice to rekindle the 90s heyday of the popular genre. Whilst at “the Tonight Show,” Blur found time to do an acoustic take of “Tender” with Jimmy Fallon in a new segment of the show that has legs.
Brit-pop’s reigning kings took twelve years to release their latest opus since the release of “Think Tank” with masterminds Graham Coxon and Damon Albarn working on their other projects respectively. Namely, the ultra popular, Gorillaz. A collective of like minded artists that have potentially out-shined Blur in many respects.
