Kendrick Lamar “To Pimp a Butterfly”

Is it too early to say an album released in March is the most important work of 2015? After listening to Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” the very first time, the feeling of listening to an instant classic immediately came over me. It’s the album Andre3k should’ve made. It bleeds and breathes a sincerity not found in music today. Probably one of the best albums I’ve listened to since LCD Soundsystem’s “This is Happening” or Wilco’s “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. The album had me with good case of the feelings. Despite being from the west-coast, it sounds very easy-coast. K Dot is next level, preaching about institutionalized racism, while these other dudes are talking about “Coco.” My only hope is that “To Pimp a Butterfly” inspires a next generation of artists that it creates a tsunami of art that drowns out the decay of modern civilization that we listen to on FM radio.
