Carly Rae Jepsen “I Really Like You”

It only took four years to come up with something as infectious (we’re not counting “Good Time” with fellow Canadian Owl City”) as “Call Me Maybe. Carly Rae Jepsen has managed to almost replicate the same kind of frenetic energy behind her chart topping single that swept a nation of tweens across the globe with the release of her latest single, “I Really Like You.” Jepsen’s refreshing approach to songwriting isn’t about shaking rumps or risque bedroom behavior. The Canadian comes at love songs with an “aww shucks” approach that is most akin to puppy dog love in a Snap Chat world of selfies and closeups.

Peter Svensson (the Cardigans) produced and co-wrote the pop laden single which would explain the infectious aesthetic behind the future FM mainstay. “I Really Like You” marks the first single taken off of the forthcoming album scheduled for release later this year to be released by Schoolboy Records from the Vancouver resident. Hollywood A-lister, Tom Hanks, and fellow label-mate, Justin Beiber, are scheduled to make cameos in the upcoming video in support of the single. Look for Carly Rae to perform her latest hit this week on Jimmy Kimmel, March 5. Just in case none of this popstar business doesn’t pan out for Jepsen, the aspiring thespian spent all of 2014 on Broadway playing the lead in “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.” If those acting chops weren’t enough, Jepsen has also starred in the 90s mega-hit reboot of “Beverly Hills 90210.”
